Nanotechnology allows the user to enhance their body on demand and in some cases passively, it's the most convenient type of implant to adopt, nanobots can manipulate any part of the body be it repairing, strengthen it or improving efficiency. The downside compared to other types of implants is that they required a lot more energy to function and need periodic repairs.

They are commonly used by military personnel or high-profile mercenary. Though some more simple types of implants are used to treat some degenerative diseases that still doesn't have cure.

Maintenance

Despite being really small nanobots still vulnerable to damage, and wear, to remedy maintenance is need every once in while.

The process starts by putting the bots in maintenance mode through the use of a nanoports which make the healthy bots find the damaged bots and move them disposal ports, after that the user will be inject through the entry port with a new batch of blank nanobots, which the will receive a copy of the software from older bots. But disposal step can be skipped if not needed and the maintenance is being made pre-emptively.

Software updates

These updates can improve performance and unlock new options for fine tuning. A update is similar to a maintenance and is done by injecting into the user a new batch of Nanobots with a newer version of the software which in turn will propagate to the older nanobots.

Vulnerabilities

Due to their electronic nature they are susceptible to EMP charge, and because of their size they are also vulnerable to some types radiation, unlike Mechs.

While they have software, they aren't as susceptible to hacks because their networks have a small range. But invasive attacks, like Nanomalware or Nanowire, are extremely dangerous because they can inject new code into the nanobots disguised as software updates and wreak havoc in the user body.
