A rope gun is a weapon that can fire projectiles attached to a cable. The gun projects with laser a line to show the user where the ammo will be shot.
Firing modes
Primary firing mode
In primary firing mode, it shoots a cable with both ends attach to the ammo simultaneously.
Secondary firing mode
The secondary firing mode shoots one end at a time.
Ammo types
Magnetic Ammo
This mode is used to immobilize enemies, it shoots a cable that will wrap around the target, restricting movement. It has a fast rate of fire
- If the foot is targeted, it can cause enemies to fall, and depending on impact force it can even knock them out.
- If the torso is targeted, it can prevent enemies from using weapons.
- If the neck is target, it can cause asphyxiation.
Stake Ammo
This mode attaches the cable to a stake that can penetrate some surfaces, it has 2 firing modes that it can be used in a couple of ways.
On the environment:
- Releasing the cable, so it can be used to manually climb.
- With the winding add-on, it works as a grappling hook.
- Shooting a second stake to create a thigh-rope-like structure.
- Creating a tripwire.
- It can be used to trigger explosives and other devices.
- Can also be used to trip enemies.
- Or prevent the advance of vehicles.
- To conduct electrical current.
On moving targets:
- Fixating the second stake on the floor to prevent movement.
- Holding to the cable to hitch a ride.
- Can be used to temporarily hold moving platforms.
On enemies:
- Can pierce enemies, causing damage, it can be lethal depending on location it hits.
On objects:
- After piercing with on stake, you can release the rope and push the object towards you.
- With the winding add-on, you can pull it automatically.
Attachments
It's possible to attach a couple of add-ons to the Rope gun to modify and improve functionality.
Electrical Add-on
It charges the cable, so it can stun enemies, or even momentarily jolt devices.
Heat Add-on
It heats the cable, it continually causes damage to enemies, possibly crippling them.
Winding Add-on
It can be used to wind back cable that still has one end attach to the gun. Be using the reload button, it retrieves the cable.
Inspirations
- Bola gun from Death Stranding.
- BolaWrap, a real product.
- Grapling hook, from Just cause 3.
